GEELONG VFL captain James Podsiadly today will qualify for life membership of the league.

Last year's JJ Liston Trophy winner plays game 175 against second-placed Williamstown at Burbank Oval today, earning the honour.

"I've been asked a few times this week and there are no words to explain it or describe it (what it means to me), if anything it's a little bit humbling to become a life member of such a great competition," Podsiadly said.

Podsiadly is in good form, having kicked bags of five goals or more in four of his past six games, with his side having won two of its past three games.
