WILLIAMSTOWN'S premiership dream was extinguished at the final hurdle on Sunday as a clinical Port Melbourne claimed the Victorian Football League premiership after a breathtaking display in the season decider.

JOHN Martin, a champion premiership player at the Seagulls, says his distaste for Port Melbourne began when his late father told him stories of how Borough supporters would pelt stones at Williamstown players after famous victories at North Port Oval[now Teac Oval] in the 1920s.
