Bombers on hot streak

THE Bendigo Bank Bombers' rapid improvement in the VFL continued on Saturday when they defeated Sandringham by 16 points.
The Bombers entered the match at Trevor Barker Beach Oval having lost their previous 10 encounters against the Zebras by an average of 37 points.

However, Sandringham's stranglehold over Bendigo has now been broken after the Bombers won 16.17 (113) to 15.7 (97).

Gold Coast Football Club has made six changes to its squad for this Saturday’s game against Geelong at Fankhauser Reserve, Southport at 2.00pm.

This week first gamer Lewis Moss comes into the forward line. Backmen Stanis Susuve, Mitch Harley and Piers Flanagan will also debut. In form centre half back Michael Coad will move forward in Charlie Dixon’s absence through injury.

GOLD Coast Football Club forward Nathan Ablett is at long odds to be fit for a mouth-watering face-off against his former club Geelong, despite training strongly yesterday.

Ablett, who missed last week's clash against Bendigo with a burst blood vessel, looked robust in a testing hitout with the main squad, but club bosses do not want to risk an early comeback.

Unfortunately for Rick they lost to lowly East Ringwood. Rick leads the following tipsters by 2 tips who are each on 25 winners, Ashtray Dave a former mustang fan, Brad Jamison who is recovering after a big week at the 'Bool, Chris Tetzner a seagull and Dogs fan, ever reliable tipster Casey Radio's Kain Pollard and not forgetting old zebra faithful Phil 'Yobbo' Clark.

TIPSTERS PICKS SEVEN WINNERS

There were 6 tipsters that picked seven winners for Round 5. Box Hill diehard Laurie 'Hoggy' Holmes who has been following Box Hill in the days of Michael Kiker, Keith Ralph and Greg Barnett was nearest the aggregate score with 194 points for the ABC game between Bendigo v Gold Coast (188). Hoggy's grandfather played for Box Hill when the mustangs were in the Eastern Districts League well before entering the VFA in 1951. Unlucky was Con Milonas who was a former Sunshine Crows fan. Con picked 195 points. Also with seven winners were Alan 178 (a big improvement on his duck egg a few weeks ago), Ashtray Dave 170, Chris Tetzner 202, and Bananaman 203 points. Hoggy collects $30. Another $30 will go to the tipster who picks seven winners for next weeks games. If more than one tipster picks seven winners, the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Bendigo v Gold Coast game will collect. If no tipster picks seven it will jackpot to $60 to the following week.

LOGJAM IN BATTLE FOR ROUND 5 AGGREGATE SCORE GAME

There was several tipsters who were near the aggregate score of 188 points for the aggregate score in the ABC game between Bendigo v Gold Coast. Tipsters who picked 187 included John Ficarra, 'Soup Kitchen', Brad Jamison and Box Hill fan Darren Pace. Those that picked 186 points included Seagull's Ian Meyer and zebra fan Jeff Smith with another seagull supporter Dave 'Rockford' Files selecting 189 points. This weeks winner goes to Bendigo Bombers fan Darren Tudor with the exact score of 188 points. Darren collects $40. The next aggregate score match will be the Round 7 ABC match.
