VFL chief executive Peter Schwab has urged struggling clubs such as Richmond to mine football's state leagues, saying the next Michael Barlow is out there.

Even if the Tigers receive a priority pick for winning four games or fewer this season, their first three draft picks will be four, 27 (the priority pick) and 28.

LOSING inspirational vice captain and spearhead Charlie Dixon to a shoulder injury early in the match took its toll with the Gold Coast Football Club going down to the Bendigo Bombers.

The GCFC battled hard against the experienced Bombers, who were fielding a team loaded with Essendon AFL listed players.

But the Bombers got better as the game went on to kick away and win 15.17 (107) to 12.9 (81).

The GCFC were sensational in the first half and led by a point at half-time.

CAPTAIN Shaune Moloney becomes the first North Ballarat player to achieve Victorian Football League life membership on Sunday.
He automatically attains the honour on playing his 175th VFL senior game against Frankston at Frankston.

Selkirk Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald said Moloney was an outstanding ambassador for North Ballarat and the competition.

"He's worked very hard on his football and has had an outstanding career.

Gold Coast Football Club will make three changes to its line up ahead of it game against the Essendon-aligned Bendigo Bombers at Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo on Saturday at 12.10pm.

Nathan Ablett will miss due to a burst blood vessel in his leg. Matthew Fowler makes his VFL debut in Ablett’s place. Danny Stanley and Luke Shreeve will be rested while experienced midfielder Daniel Harris and livewire forward Alik Magin return to the team.
