Thinking of becoming a member in 07
Body:
Hi there, I've been into footy as long as I can remember, grew up as an avid Bombers fan in the AFL but never purchased a membership, have watched Saturday VFL on the ABC for many years and have always had a soft spot in my heart for Port Melbourne. Over the last five years or so I've become rather disillusioned with the AFL. I'm not sure why but it seems the heart of the game has gone - it seems to now be a league of 'franchises' as opposed to 'clubs' - and the local supporter scene and suburban rivalry has dissapeared greatly on the Melbourne scale (Am I the only person who feels depressed when I hear another suburban stadium being closed - the last one being Princes Park - or are there others out there who hate to see the death of the suburban game in Melbourne in the AFL?) Anyway, I am considering purchasing my first membership of any football club (bar Fitzroy when I played for them as a kid) this year and would like to know what to expect from a game of footy down at Port Melbourne. (ie what are crowds like, their demographic, what's the canteen food like, how's the beer and what's it's price, where's the best place to sit or stand, how's parking and all the rest). Can anyone also give me a lowdown on general club information that I may not know from reading over the website and other things. Cheers in advance :)
