I noticed in a televised game earlier this year the umpire called out "Your kick number 2".

I know they no longer get to have as much contact with players as of old, when they'd often mingle in the rooms after a match, but to have so little knowledge of the players!
Bring back the likes of Frankie Vergona and David Jackson. Hated with good reason during a game, but would know most of the regular players by name, and would go into the rooms after the game and appear almost human!
