PORT Melbourne coach Gary Ayres believes the result today against Williamstown will not measure which is the best team in the competition, despite the much-anticipated battle between the competition heavyweights at Avalon Airport Oval in Werribee.
Despite the Borough's 15 consecutive wins and undefeated status, Ayres was adamant his team would still be improving right up to September.
''All we can do is to take on Williamstown in the manner that we've shown all year, and that's be positive and look to keep trying to hone things that we know in relation to our processes, our structures and that's all we can do really,'' Ayres said. ''What will happen will be two teams going at it pretty hard. Whoever wins or loses, do they assume greater right to being the No. 1 team in the competition? Well, that doesn't occur [until] the grand final. It's all about working everything that you can in terms of [how] your room for improvements go and that's all we're talking about as a club,'' he said.
