Well I got along and watched the three games at Port Melbourne today. It was cold and wet.
The first game, Ireland with a genuine tall, used the ball very well, and used the corridor to set up their scoring opportunities. They won, about 10.9 to 1.6.
The second game got a little heated at times... I thought a couple of US players were lucky not to be reported. Spain played some good passages of play, but overall the USA looked (and were) too good. The scores were in the range of 6 goals to 2.
In the last New Zealand were way to tall for Japan, who didnt appear to have anyone over 6 foot. Their skill level was reasonably good, but as a small side, needed to be quicker over the ground to compete with New Zealand. NZ had a line-up similar to Ireland, and after Japans first goal, the traffic was all the Falcons way.
From what I saw today, both NZ and Ireland will both be finals contenders.
