ONBALLER Toby Pinwill and forwards Adrian Bonaddio and Rees Thomas helped Port Melbourne storm away in the second half against Frankston.

Pinwill had 33 possessions and made eight effective tackles in the win at the TEAC Oval.

Bonaddio and Thomas each kicked four goals in Port's 15.19 (109)-7.9 (51) win.

Port Melbourne coach Gary Ayres said his side had controlled the game from five minutes into the third quarter, when the scores were level.

"But for our inaccurate goalkicking, we would won by a bigger margin," Ayres said.

A SECOND-HALF fadeout by Frankston allowed Port Melbourne to score a runaway 58-point victory yesterday at TEAC Oval.

The tough and slippery conditions created a contest for the first half — Port led by just 11 points at the main break — but Frankston's inaccurate kicking in front of goals and around the ground allowed the margin to blow out.

Dolphins coach Brett Lovett said he was disappointed by his team's performance, labeling it one of the worst in some time. He added that his players would be hearing some "home truths" during the week and hinted that he might make some changes after the reserves had a 72-point victory.

"We are very disappointed," he said. "I felt the guys were very lethargic and just didn't show the effort that we've been showing in the first four games.

IT was David Pitt's 150th senior game in the VFL, and he made sure it was one he would look back on with pleasure.

The Port Melbourne right-footer has spent the bulk of his career playing in the forward line, but on Saturday against Coburg Tigers he ran a wing and stacked up 29 possessions.

Not only did he press for best-afield honours, but the Boroughs won the Round 4 clash by 48 points to improve to 2-2 before.

"It was a great way for him to celebrate that milestone," Port coach Gary Ayres said of Pitt, who joined Port Melbourne from Springvale in 2004.

PORT Melbourne delivered a sweet one-point victory over Sandringham at TEAC Oval on Saturday.

Coming off a 13-point loss to Collingwood in the opening round, Port remained confident despite going into time-on 16 points down.

Kicking to the old grandstand end with a breeze, new coach Gary Ayres said he knew if the team continued to play "controlled footy" it would prevail.

Adrian Bonaddio (three goals), Toby Pinwell and Luke Cotchett (three goals) brought the Borough home.

"I told the players this was eight quarters worth of work," Ayres said of the approach the team took into the first two matches.

Ayres was joyous at the effort in the second quarter when John Baird, Ryan McMahon and Sam Pleming were off the ground getting facial abrasions fixed. Sandy put on three goals while the midfield drive was restricted.

The Zebs held a 16-point lead going into time-on kicking into a breeze at the Williamstown Rd end.

Port had three goals kicked by Adrian Bonaddio (three goals), Toby Pinwell and Luke Cotchett (three goals).
