Here's a little game of 'Spot The Errors'. [u]http://www.leadernews.com.au/article/2008/03/03/30407_vfl_story.html[/ur...
History of VFL 03Mar08 While the structure of the competition we now know as the VFL dates back only to 2000, its history and traditions have much earlier antecedents. The Victorian Football Association, Australia’s inaugural football competition, was founded in 1877, with Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne, St Kilda, Essendon, Albert Park, Hotham and West Melbourne constituting the original clubs. Although clubs came and went over the ensuing 118 years, the VFA remained an indelible part of Melbourne’s sporting fabric. In 1995, it switched its name to the Victorian Football League, before in 2000, as part of the revamp of second-tier Victorian football, the majority of VFL teams forged alignments with AFL clubs. Of the existing 14 VFL sides, 10 are aligned with Victorian-based AFL teams, with only Port Melbourne, Frankston and Tasmanian Devils stand-alone entities. Collingwood is the sole AFL club to field its own VFL team. Current clubs (AFL affiliates in brackets): Bendigo Bombers (Essendon), Box Hill Hawks (Hawthorn), Casey Scorpions (St Kilda) Coburg Tigers (Richmond), Collingwood (Collingwood), Frankston Dolphins (none), Geelong (Geelong), North Ballarat Roosters (North Melbourne), Northern Bullants (Carlton), Port Melbourne Borough (none), Sandringham Zebras (Melbourne), Tasmanian Devils (none), Werribee Tigers (North Melbourne), Werribee Tigers (Western Bulldogs)
