THE work of Geelong's VFL list development will continue to bear fruit today, with three of its former pupils to play senior AFL football.

Last year's Geelong VFL best and fairest, Jason Davenport, has been named to make his AFL debut for Port Adelaide against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium tonight, after being delisted by the Cats at the end of last season.

GEELONG VFL captain James Podsiadly will today front up against his old club, Werribee, for the first time since his shock switch at the end of last season.

The Cats host the Tigers in the AFL curtain-raiser at Skilled Stadium this morning, but Podsiadly said he wasn't expecting any fireworks from the club he captained and won a Liston Trophy at last year.

A PEACE deal has been brokered between the AFL and the AFL Victoria board with the addition of two new AFL executives on AFLV's board as part of a change to the constitution.

Several VFL teams have feared for their future after the AFL's request to be the sole voting member of the AFLV's board, but the request was voted down.

North Ballarat will bring the Victorian Football League to Stawell this weekend when it hosts Bendigo Bombers at Central Park on Sunday.
The Roosters and Bombers met for the first time at Central Park in 2007, and following the success of that venture, the fixture will return in 2009.

North Ballarat CEO Mark Patterson said he was proud to be bringing the VFL back to Stawell.

RICHMOND forward Robin Nahas took it in his stride during a visit to Craigieburn Primary School when a year-five student shouted to him: "You look like one of us!"

Tiger teammates — including Graham Polak, Luke McGuane, Jake King and Dean Polo — broke into broad grins. Said Nahas: "Yeah, I've heard it all before."

PORT Melbourne’s Sam Dwyer went from villain to pin-up boy in his role in the Borough’s great fightback over Geelong at TEAC Oval on Saturday.

Port won by two goals after trailing by 21 points at three-quarter-time.

Dwyer kicked along the ground from 10 metres and missed halfway through the last term as Port was barnstorming home.

Five minutes later John Baird lofted a magnificent pass into centre-half forward and through a screen of players the small Dwyer plucked an overhead grab, went back and converted a more difficult opportunity to level the game.

At the death of the third term the margin was a daunting 27 points when James Podsiadly, who is in his first season as captain of the Cats, slotted the last of his five goals for the match.
