North Ballarat will bring the Victorian Football League to Stawell this weekend when it hosts Bendigo Bombers at Central Park on Sunday.
The Roosters and Bombers met for the first time at Central Park in 2007, and following the success of that venture, the fixture will return in 2009.

North Ballarat CEO Mark Patterson said he was proud to be bringing the VFL back to Stawell.

RICHMOND forward Robin Nahas took it in his stride during a visit to Craigieburn Primary School when a year-five student shouted to him: "You look like one of us!"

Tiger teammates — including Graham Polak, Luke McGuane, Jake King and Dean Polo — broke into broad grins. Said Nahas: "Yeah, I've heard it all before."

PORT Melbourne’s Sam Dwyer went from villain to pin-up boy in his role in the Borough’s great fightback over Geelong at TEAC Oval on Saturday.

Port won by two goals after trailing by 21 points at three-quarter-time.

Dwyer kicked along the ground from 10 metres and missed halfway through the last term as Port was barnstorming home.

Five minutes later John Baird lofted a magnificent pass into centre-half forward and through a screen of players the small Dwyer plucked an overhead grab, went back and converted a more difficult opportunity to level the game.

At the death of the third term the margin was a daunting 27 points when James Podsiadly, who is in his first season as captain of the Cats, slotted the last of his five goals for the match.

Inside Football update - Round 4

DEAL DONE: Two AFL execs will join the AFL Victoria board as part of the peace deal brokered over the constitution kerfuffle. While the AFL has backed down from pursuing changes that would have made it the sole voting member of AFL Victoria, it has been granted a bigger say at board level. Two members of its executive team will become directors, filling two of the four vacancies. “It will allow the AFL to gain clearer understandings of the issues facing AFL Victoria while at the same time provide AFL Victoria with a more direct avenue to the AFL for assistance and support,” AFL Victoria chairman Grant O’Riley said. “This win-win resolution came after discussions with Andrew Demetriou, who fully supports the new approach.” O’Riley repeated that he was “amazed” at suggestions the AFL would react to the constitutional rebuff by cutting funding or developing an east coast competition. “We spent months working with the AFL on the second-tier review and that quashed any speculation of an east coast competition. The conclusion from the AFL specifically stated that the VFL in its current form is the best option for Victoria’s second tier.”

It truly was deja vu at the Coburg ground last Saturday for those who remember the days when VFL/AFL stars burst on to packed VFA grounds. Ben Cousins, his face covered in a layer of sun cream that gave him a ghostlike countenance and his muscles glistening in the bright sun could have been Mel Gibson in Braveheart if it hadn’t been for the crew cut.
Like Braveheart he brought a tribe of loyal followers. From the goals at the grandstand end to the ABC commentary box it was standing room only and there were even clusters of people dotted across the terraces on the usually barren eastern side of the ground.
Times have changed since that Sunday in 1986 when another famous VFL/AFL player, the goalkicker Mark Jackson, arrived at Coburg in the Brunswick colours. AFL football is now prolific across the weekend and the VFL has to fight for attention. Not so 20 years ago. In the days preceding this match there was a stream of stories in the media about Jackson’s flight to the VFA. A week earlier they’d run out of food and beer by half time at the Gillon Oval.

Round 4 - VFL Tipping update

LEADERS BOARD

Four tipsters share the lead after four rounds each with 18 winners.
Arthur Morihovitis a pies fan shares the lead with Don 'Cgull' Quayle a diehard seagulls supporter as well as old Box Hill Mustangs fan Glen 'Bombre' Barnard and old Camberwell Cobra and now Port supporter Keith Lumley.

THREE TIPSTERS PICKS SIX

Three tipsters picked all six winners for the round. Box Hill Mustangs diehard Glen 'Bombre' Barnard who was following the brown and gold 'white horses' in the days of Michael Kiker, Keith Ralph and Geoff 'Wally' Withers picked six winners with an aggregate score of 167 winners for the Coburg v Casey clash. Oakleigh Devils fan from the 80s who was following the purple and gold in the days of Rino Pretto, Danny Neary, Keith Battersby and Wes Hillard picked six winners but had an aggregate score of 173 winners for the ABC match. Arthur Morihovitis who being a Collingwood supporter would have either followed Preston or Brunswick in the old VFA days of the 70s. These days he follows the fortunes of Montmorency in the old Diamond Valley Football League.
Arthur with his six winners as he also picked 180 for the aggregate score which is closer than Glen and Willo (Coburg 73 Casey 115) total 188 points.

Arthur collects $60. The next six winners jackpot will be in Round 6 as there will be only five matches in Round 5.
