SANDRINGHAM is on the verge of missing the finals for the first time since 2001, but skipper Peter Summers has implored his side to keep the faith.

With just three games before finals, time is fast running out for the ninth-placed Zebras, who are a win behind eight-placed Northern Bullants and equal on 28 points with 10th-placed Geelong.

Sandringham travels to Coburg City Oval to face the seventh-placed Tigers today, before finishing a tough season away to sixth-placed Frankston and a potentially season-defining Round 20 clash at home with ladder leader North Ballarat.

The Zebras squandered a golden opportunity to move into the top eight last Sunday when they lost to Geelong by 11 points at Trevor Barker Oval, and Summers knows time is ticking.

"This week is make or break for us," said Summers, 24, who spent the pre-season with Sandy's AFL affiliate Melbourne. "It's huge. We have to win every game from here on in."

They may be playing for different things, but the Roosters and the Bullants both have their seasons on the line in round 18 of the VFL and ABC Grandstand will be at North Ballarat Oval to bring you all the action live this Saturday from 1pm.

The Roosters are crowing as they come towards the end of the home-and-away season, flying high a game clear at the top of the ladder. After last week’s away win over Casey, North Ballarat will be brimming with confidence and looking forward to playing in front of a big home crowd.

LEADERS BOARD

George "Everywhere Man" Paras, who is currently working up a tan on Cable Beach after fronting up at the Broome Cup on Saturday, tipped 6 this week and has kicked 4 clear of the quartet of Bobby Borough, Kain Pollard, Keith Lumley and Paul 'Saints' Martinez who are all locked on 85 with another five tipsters - Con Milonas, Darren Tudor, Parry Paras, Stephen Allender and Vaughan Shannon on 84. With 3 rounds to go there are still plenty of chances.

SEVEN WINNERS- THE JACKPOT GOES OFF!

Simon "Gibbo" Gibson scored himself a lazy $90 by being the only tipster to tip all seven this week. Seven winners prize will revert to $30 this week.

GEELONG has thrown a spanner into the VFL-finals works after it overran Sandringham to claim a pulsating 11-point comeback victory at Trevor Barker Oval yesterday.

Having all but declared their season over last week, the Cats are now just one win away from breaking back into the top eight for the first time in two months.

In arguably their most impressive win this season, the Cats came back from four goals down early in the third to kick seven unanswered goals to stun the red-hot favourite Zebras 11.12 (78) to 9.13 (67).

Debutant in-waiting Simon Hogan delivered his most complete performance from an already glittering year, collecting 41 disposals and six marks.
