Box Hill Hawks

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, popular clubman Matthew Ball will play his 100th senior game for the Box Hill Hawks this Monday against the Bendigo Bombers (in Bendigo). My favorite Box Hill memory of Matthew Ball? The day he carved up Gary Moorcroft in the 2003 VFL Preliminary Final, and effectively ended Moorcroft's AFL career. Congratulations and best wishes to the 2 time Box Hill best and fairest and 2001 Premiership player. .... Well done Bally.

I am curious. Has Box Hill signed up or is still chasing some dumped AFL or WAFL and SANFL players to join for the 2007 season?

Saw the GOOCH Marguccio pounding the pavement in his Box Hill gear the other day around Doncaster. . . after starring in the 2nds finals series, looks like he's making one last effort to consolidate himself in the ones in 2007 . . . our longest serving current player. Saw Sammy Rudolph on his bike around Blackburn, and what i'm 99% sure was Trevor Batchelor out for a jog in the Box Hill area . . . could he be returning from Perth to play with the Stangs, or possibly back at Mitcham, or just back for a holiday?

I went to Camberwell's 25th anniversary of their 1981 2nd Division flag. Very good turnout and great day. The memoribilia was fantastic to look back on. Leon Rice was one of the speakers. He was coach of the 1981 flag but also was in Hawthorn's 1971 premiership lineup. It would be great if more old VFA clubs had turns like this. Camberwell has a very dedicated bunch of old supporters and it is a crying shame that the club does not play anywhere these days.

YOU BEAUTY!!! What a game! Nothing like slogging out a win against a fancied opposition in the wet! Although i knew it meant the crowd would be well down for the main game and would look crap on tv, was glad the rain came down. The end of the 1st quarter was probably their best patch, where they were able to run the ball into the wind and score fairly easily. Glad the rain came when it did, stopped Willy from playing open footy, and denied them using the strong wind effectively in the 2nd qu. Well done Patty Hassett on BOG, great to see.

3 VOTES from Box Hill listed players! 2 to Heighty, and one to Sammy Gibson. Thought Cooky would have been in line for at least 1 vote v's Bendigo! Apart from Bendigo, where i'm not sure exactly who's AFL and VFL listed, it is far and away the lowest tally by a VFL squad. Thought Sammy Rudolph could have polled a vote or two, but i guess he did play his better games in matches we lost. Onwards and Upwards
