Frankston 8-6(54) lead Port Melbourne 1-2(8) at Half Time
A very dark day under the bright lights at Frankston.
I can't remember a more uncompetitive effort from the Borough for well over a decade. Far too much left to far too few.
Port Melbourne 4.3.27
Frankston's biggest win win for 8 years
Port Melb's biggest loss under Gary Ayres
Port Melb's lowest score since Round 13 2015 v Casey at Casey when they scored 2-8(20)
Frankston lowest score conceded since Round 16 1998 v Sandy when they conceded 3-4(22)
I'm at a loss for words. I was confident of a win.....but that was something else. I'm sure Port supporters will lament their own team's poor performance, but from moment one Frankston shut them down and shut them out. That was an absolutel masterclass in harrassment, workrate and poise. On a freezing cold and greasy night the Dolphins looked like they were playing dry weather footy. I doubt any other VFL side could have taken us tonight. Something very special has begun at Frankston you feel.
Port Melbourne were very poor last night. Frankston were first class. The way they played last night they would have beaten any vfl team. They have many good players in Freeman, Rendell, voss, brolic, Lambert to name a few. They played with passion, skill and worked well all over the ground. I would expect the dolphins to beat sandy next week which would give them 7 wins. In a 14 game season they would only need another couple of wins and september action could be real. These dolphin players would have gained much confidence and self believe last night that should see them going in to games beleiving they can win whoever they play. Great crowd last for a cold July night.
Frankston fans are going to dine out on that win for a verrrrry long time.
Wins for the dolphins over the last decade have been as rare as hens teeth. They would be boyed by the great crowd which was excellent for a cold freezing July night. There were two live streams last night. One from port YouTube channel and one from Frankston. Great effort on both accounts. With another Friday night game looming against arch rival sandringham the interest will by sky high. Another good crowd will be expected next Friday night.
