But what ever happened to players making their way back from long term lay offs through the reserves? Sure, Travis has been out of footy for different reasons, and I'm not close enough to the situation to know what his attitude has been like, nor to know how he has been performing on the training track.
What I do know is that Werribee have a loyal group of players who have been around the club for a while, yet can't crack a senior game at the moment. They also have a group of fresh faces out of the TAC Cup - boys whose dreams got placed on hold when their names weren't called out by an AFL club late last year.

He hasn't played a competitive game of footy since the practice matches in March. That's two months ago. There are plenty of suburban footy clubs in Melbourne who wouldn't even throw a player into the seniors after such a long break. Yet, we have a VFL club doing it.
I'm sorry, but handing Travis a senior game after such a long lay off appears to be nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt. I thought the Werribee Footy Club stood for more than that.
