That's what makes it even more frustrating, the last 2 weeks were winnable and you could argue that we should have won both, would have been a more positive position to be in had we of won those.
Ports had a bizarre season last and this season, they have shown that on their day they can beat anybody however our day doesn't come often enough. Definitely have underachieved and faith in becoming.a true force in the competition again is diminishing when you consider the afl standard coaching staff and the good recruiting we have had post covid yet it doesn't seem to be working.
I agree that we were hurt by key players injuries but you've got to expect that and other clubs are most likely in the same position. Talking about injuries Farrant and Manton are no longer on the injury list so I expect they will be on the park this Saturday with Signorello to tmake way. I feel we may have seen the last game by Sigs for Port last Saturday. Unless we win all the remaining games which is unlikely it's pretty much season over so I wouldn't mind even blooding a couple of players per match to get them up to speed for next season.
My prediction If Farrant and Manton play this week we will win but it's not going to be easy vs a ever improving Williamstown.

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN, I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED, I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!
Yes, I was not at all impressed with the umpiring, but in the end a team that kicks 11.17 can't blame anyone but themselves for the loss.
That is certainly a fair point, Mega, about other clubs being in a similar position with injuries. Manton and Farrant were never added to the injury list at all that I saw, but it would be great to have them both back against Williamstown. I don't think we have much chance if they don't play; if they do it will still be a tough game. But as you say Port Melbourne have been a bit unpredictable this season.
I wasn't making any notes about where our misses came from, and I do recall some pretty shocking ones in a number of games, but my impression in the Carlton game at least was that we were often taking shots from wide angles and that a lot of the forward 50 entries that resulted in marks were out near the boundary rather than in front of goal. So it does seem that recruiting a good key forward could help. That is a good point as well, NorthPort, about the limited training at our home ground.
Got bad news Spiny offset with some slight good news. I was at thd club tonight and the bad news is that Manton will not be playing this week and most likely will miss next game as well. The good news *which is hardly good news* is as expected the lads were doing kicking practice taking set shots from various angles. I should have asked about Farrant but a oversight on my behalf.

Thanks for the update, Mega. That's too bad about Manton. Hope the goalkicking practice pays off! Consistent improvement midseason seems unlikely, but they certainly do need to be practicing....

I'm yet to watch the Port replay but heard free kicks were 12-24 Carlton's way.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
They were and especially towards the end their were some strange decisions- even commentators were surprised
