CH31 and Local Footy Show- the end of community TV ??

Unfortunately it looks like Ch31 will be off the air at end of the month.
Paul Fletcher the communications minster will make the most disgraceful decision to pull the community station off air. Absolute disgrace, Unless of course their is a last minute change of mind.
The Local Footy Show is easily the best footy show going around by a mile. Features grass roots footy.
Fletcher has been bombarded with emails and messages and hopefully they will sink in.

Local Footy Show is on at 7pm tonight. In the words of Molly Meldrum of countdown fame (do yourselves a favour) and watch the Local Footy show tonight..
Far better than watching AFL games at the moment. Utter garbage. The swans v bulldogs games was an absolute shocker. Better off watching test pattern, cement harden or paint dry. That is typical of the modern day footy. Can't wait for the VFL and some local leagues to start (whichever ones are left) to get a proper old style footy to watch.

The Feds want the bandwith for something else. The strange thing is the Federal Govt give NO money to Ch 31.

I wish the Vic Government or one of the unis could take it over as a training school for the TV/Film industry.

They get an average of 1 million viewers per week which is pretty good for a community station run on a shoestring budget!

There is some great shows on Ch31. Far batter than some of the trailer trash reality garbage on the commercial channels.
I just hope by some miracle a last minute reprieve is given for Ch31 but don't like their chances.

I think you are right vfa CH31 have already had a few near death experiences over the last few years and fought them off but I think this time the ex Optus exc pommie born from Sydney Minister Flecther has them in his sights!.

A similar station in Sydney got the arse in 2015 by Turnbull no doubt to please Murdoch as he hates any non commercial broadcasters!

Looks like a 12 month extension. Fletcher stated on Q&A last night that there will be a 12 month extension.

Thats one bit of good news but the Feds want to turn CH 31 into digital online only which would slowly kill it off.

Why did the goose Paul Fletcher wait until Q&A to announce the extension. All the shows and programmes have geared for closure and they have a send off show tonight night for 4 hours. There will probably be no scheduled programmes for tomorrow at least. Fletcher would have known about extension yet he had to wait on Q&A to announce. He is an A grade goose. At least Ch31 has an extension for a further 12 month period which is good news. Agree 100 percent Billy that the online will kill Ch31 off. Dane Swan. Brent Maccafer ex Collingwood, Luke Potts ex Frankston and Aaron Edwards are all playing for St Kilda City. There home ground is known as the Peanut Farm. I bet you they are not paid peanuts LOL. With the way Victoria or more like Melbourne is at the moment nothing is certain and footy not yet one hundred percent over the line. Southern FL, Yarra Valley, VAFA likely to join the VFL as the only metro leagues. August 1 start for VFL and Yarra Valley but possibly August 25 start for VAFA and SFL. As for AFL and getting large crowds at the MCG it will be far later than sooner. Not looking good for quite a while.

Terrific news of the one year extension.  Hopefully something more permanent comes about in the next 12 months.
