A 40m kick from the Gold Coast ruckman had just enough elevation to make it across the point line and give the Gold Coast a dramatic 13.12 (90) to 13.11 (89) victory over the Bendigo Bombers at Cazlays.

HE is probably a bit biased but Cairns native Charlie Dixon would love it if Cazalys becomes a home away from home for new AFL franchise the Gold Coast.

Dixon has been named at centre-half forward for the Gold Coast ahead of their VFL match against the Bendigo Bombers at Cazalys tomorrow.

KARMICHAEL Hunt's on-again, off-again VFL appearance in Cairns is on again after a ''very effusive father'' prompted a change of heart from Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna.

McKenna had decided to rest his star recruit from Saturday’s game between the Gold Coast and Bendigo Bombers at Cazalys despite Hunt’s eagerness to continue his Aussie rules education in the Far North.

GOLD Coast Football Club were overwhelmed by a classy and committed Box Hill Hawks in their VFL game at Fankhauser Reserve today.

It was all Gold Coast in the first term but they offered nothing after that as the Hawks ran away to win, 19.16 (130) to 11.8 (74).

The Hawks had the better of the second term to lead 8.7 (55) to 6.4 (40) at half-time.
