Yep, the heading is correct. I spent a week in Melbourne as my folks were down to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary, and came across a copy of the VFA Recorder from the 2nd Semi-Final of the 1956 season. Needless to say, the copy I have is very brown, and extremely fragile.
This game was between Port Melbourne and Williamstown, but I will endeavour to revise what I have as best as I can.
So, starting from the front, we have an ad for Garland's Famous Veterinary Mixtures, on behalf of Studley Trading Co. Pty. Ltd., 54 William St, Melbourne, MB 5355.
hi, i hope im not being a bother but i wondered if anyone could identify a badge / pin i have found? i dont know who else to ask and i have googled it with no success. i at first thought it was an old victorian football badge....it is a gold coloured bar brooch / pin with a black enameled shield in the middle. on the black shield is gold letters....large "V", medium "F" (inside the V) and a small wrapped around "C" (around the F). on the back is written K G LUKE MELB.
Is anyone able to tell me where this game was played, and anything else about the match itself?
Any snippets most welcome.
