While ive been in melbourne ive been going through old recorders in the library for results.

What im missing is 92 premiers cup as results not in r1 recorder and 93 pre season fosters cup as the library doest have the r1 recorder

Any help????

It's not the first time incorrect answers have appeared, but there's a clanger in last weekend's Record. Question 7: Alan Poore won the 1965 and 1966 JJ Liston Trophy whilst playing for WAVERLEY.

Quite obviously Mr Lee needs to check facts.

As part of it's centenary year celebrations, the VFA ran a knock out competition featuring all 20 teams. An almost complete set of results are set out below:

(Featured the teams that finished 3rd to 10th in the 2nd division in 1976 and was played the week prior to the first round of the season proper).

In response to a query on this site, the VFA ran a lightning premiership in seasons 1972 to 1979, featuring the teams that didnt make the finals.
It was straight knock out, and started with the 2nd division. The winner of the 2nd division then joined the 3 remaining 1st division sides in the semi finals.
In 1975 Northcote became the first 2nd div side to make the grand final, and in 1978 Werribee went one better by actually winning the grand final.
