Doug Nicholls played for Nortchote in the late 1920's and early 1930s. My Grandfather George Hunt played for Brighton. (George never played in the League as far as I know)
George's photo collection contains this mystery cut out from a larger photo. I am guessing it was from an interstate football carnival, but I thought that only the VFL fielded sides. Does anyone know this photo, or at least recognise the jumper?
Cheers

I have made a page about the 1933 Brighton team at http://practicalgenealogy.com.au/research/brighton-penguins-1933-vfa-sea...
I am interested if anyone can identify players in the team photo,
or can supply more details about any of the players.
My grandfather played for the club for many years and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It was sad to hear about Jim Stynes loosing his battle with cancer. If you were a old VFA supporter you would remember Jim was sent by Melbourne Football Club to play with Prahan in the VFA in 1986 to learn how to play Aussie Rules Football before he carved out a great career in VFL/AFL team Melbourne.I remember him playing against Port Melbourne that year. Also his brother Brian played 2 games for Melbourne in 1992 and came to Port Melbourne as a forward in 1993 and played only that year then went back to Ireland to play Gaelic Football. RIP Jimmy Stynes!!!!
Go Borough! 2012
Yep, the heading is correct. I spent a week in Melbourne as my folks were down to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary, and came across a copy of the VFA Recorder from the 2nd Semi-Final of the 1956 season. Needless to say, the copy I have is very brown, and extremely fragile.
This game was between Port Melbourne and Williamstown, but I will endeavour to revise what I have as best as I can.
