Disappointingly it has been confirmed by Channel 7 that the 2026 VFL season will not be broadcast this year.
It is believed that the cost one a major factor in the decision. A petition has been created on Change.org seeking another Free to air broadcaster to pick up the rights to the VFA /VFL.
The Victorian standalone clubs will head back to Craigieburn's Highgate Reserve on 28 February 2026 for the 2026 carnival.
The games fixtured are:
Coburg v Sandringham @ 10:00am
Werribee v Frankston @ 12:45pm
Port Melbourne v Williamstown @ 3.30pm
Is just like to wish everyone involved with VFLFOOTY.COM all the very best for the Christmas period and hope that 2026 is a great year ahead.
The VFA/VFL will no doubt be worse this year with Preston, an integral part of the history of the competition missing this year. Even as an away supporter, visiting Preston City Oval was always something special.
Those great rivalries are what makes Victorian football in the states premier association /league special and its something we no longer get with the addition of most of the interstate clubs.
